Cult stones. The most mysterious cult stones are cupmarked stones, found almost everywhere in the world. Scientists date these cupmarked stones to be several thousand years old. There are at least about 30 hypotheses regarding why people created cupmarks in stones. It is believed that these stones are linked to ancestor cults, while others think that the cupmarks represent the positions of stars in the sky and that these stones were used as sacrifice sites. Nabe Castle (Manor)

Nabe Castle was a 14th-century vassal castle of the Archbishopric of Riga, built in the ancient territory of Metsepole by Lake Lāde. The Limbaži–Turaida road passed by it. To this day, the castle tower has been preserved near the later-built Nabe Manor. More info ››

Liepleju Sacred Oaks

An ancient sacred site. The trees are visible across the pond from the direction of the Augstroze Church. There used to be 6 oaks, but now there are 4. During the Soviet era, the Liepleju Sacred Oaks were named after A. Pumpurs. The measurements of the oaks are: 4.30; 4.10; 4.0; 4.65. More info ››

Nature Trail of Lielezers Lake

Limbaži Lielezers is a 4.3 km long, narrow lake, with a 2.3 km long one-way nature trail at its northeastern end. Part of the trail has been built with a wooden boardwalk, allowing visitors to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding lake area with dry feet. The wooden boardwalk sometimes leads through a reed maze and occasionally opens up to views of the lake. At the northern end of the lake, a bird-watching tower has been built, offering a fantastic view of the lake. More info ››

Augstroze Evangelical Lutheran Church

The church was built in 1798. Later, its altar was moved to the stone church built in 1859. In 1968, the church was closed and converted into a grain warehouse; the historic altar was transferred to the Rundāle Palace Museum. The Augstroze congregation resumed its activity in 1991. The church was restored, and the altar regained its original appearance and was returned to the Augstroze Evangelical Lutheran Church. More info ››
