Theatre House and Vienības Park

The park is located between Rīgas and Parka streets, it was opened in 1892. The area once had a stage and theater performances were held there. The park features sculptures donated to the city by sculptor Kārlis Baumanis. The Theatre House, home to the Auseklis Limbaži Folk Theatre, is also located here, and near the Theatre House, you can see the statue "The Kissers" (sculptor Olga Šilova). More info ››

Ežurga cliffs

The Burtnieki Series sandstone outcrop is up to 3.5 meters high and about 50 meters wide. The outcrop is a beautiful shade of red. In the northern part of the cliff, where the Ežurga River flows into the sea with a waterfall, the cliffs are smooth and approximately 10 meters wide. More info ››

Svētupe lamprey weir

The lamprey fishing in Svētupe takes place from August 1st to February 1st. When the river completely freezes, the owners must not only manage the holes where the eel traps are placed and removed but also carefully monitor to ensure that the shifting ice does not dislodge or damage the trap supports. Wall Paintings in the “Old-Town Hall"

Ships, cliffs, people, buildings, landscapes painted in pastel tones—motifs seemingly from fairy tales, reminiscent of Flemish painting… A veiled world emanates from the wall paintings in the attic floor of this house. These were once commissioned by a certain Braunšveigs, about whom little is known, yet thanks to the homeowner's refined taste, his name is often mentioned here. Today, these wall paintings are recognized as a nationally significant art monument. More info ››

Monument to Composer and Author of the Latvia National Anthem Baumaņu Kārlis

Located at the intersection of Dailes Street and Cēsu Street. In Limbaži, there are two monuments dedicated to the author of the Latvian national anthem, Baumaņu Kārlis. The first one, created by Gustavs Šķilters, was unveiled in 1920 – 15 years after the composer's death – at his burial site in the Limbaži Cemetery (Jūras Street Cemetery). The second monument was unveiled in 1998 in the old town of Limbaži (at the intersection of Dailes and Cēsu Streets), with the participation of then-President Guntis Ulmanis. The authors of the monument are sculptors Juris Rapa and Zigrīda Rapa. The sculpture depicts Baumaņu Kārlis after conducting the anthem. More info ››

Gates of Love and Friendship

In the middle of the Burtnieku quarter, you can see the "Gates of Love and Friendship" made by silver sculptor Oļegs Auzers. One side of the Gates of Love symbolizes the masculine side, featuring oak branches, oak leaves, and acorns. The other side of the Gates of Love, which shows apple leaves and apple blossoms, symbolizes the feminine side. At the request of the newlyweds, there is an opportunity to order and hang a brass leaf with words and a lucky date. More info ››

"Center kiosk" - an outdoor showcase

The restored wooden structure showcase/glass pavilion replicates the Limbaži historical center kiosk, which was installed in the town's Old Town Market Square in 1935. The kiosk was a SHELL gas station, uniquely marking a location in the historical center of the city from which the medieval town was measured. More info ››

Fountain "Ball"

Possibly the largest ball in Latvia – a 3.5-meter-high fountain illuminated in the dark, representing the former symbol of Limbaži municipality. The fountain's design author, Gunārs Platpīrs, won 1st place in the "Design of the Year 2013" award in the category "Outdoor Space Design". More info ››

Fountain "Dandelion Fluff"

Four small-sized fountains are especially loved by children, as on hot summer days a fine mist forms around the "dandelion heads", inviting them to reach out and touch it. More info ››

Ģildes (Guild) Street

It was formed in the 14th century and developed in the late 18th and 19th centuries. On this street, there is a house where the clairvoyant Eugen Finks worked as an assistant to photographer K. Transfiguration of Christ Orthodox Church

The Orthodox parish of Limbaži is one of the oldest in Latvia. The magnificent church was built between 1900 and 1903 in the Neo-Byzantine style according to a three-part design and is located on the site of a former Livonian-era monastery. It is the largest Orthodox church in Vidzeme outside of Riga. More info ››

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Limbaži

The stone church was built in 1679–1680 according to a design by architect R. Bindenshu, funded by the Riga City Council. The building has suffered multiple fires. Between the church and the hospital, built in the 1930s, lies a moat that was originally dug for the defense of the Livonian castle.
In the churchyard, there is a monument built in 1923 based on the design of architect P. Kundziņš. It is dedicated to the fighters from the Limbaži region who fell in the Latvian War of Independence (1914–1920). The monument's unveiling in 1923 was attended by the President of Latvia, Jānis Čakste. More info ››
