Cycling route "Three Bridges"
The "Three Bridges" cycling route will give you the opportunity to explore both banks of the Salaca River, see important cultural and historical sites and visit local farms.
On the "Three Bridges" cycling route tour you can explore and see the immediate surroundings of the city. At the starting point at the Salacgrīva Tourist Information Centre you can pick up a map of the town to help you find your way around. Then head towards Valmieras Street and after 3km you will reach the first bridge and cross the Jaunupe river, a river popular for boaters. A few metres ahead you will reach the Annasmuiža concrete bridge and cross the Salaca River. Take a breather and relax on the bridge, watching the river scenery and smelling the scent of meadow flowers in the air. Follow the signs on the road back towards town (about 3km), where you can stop at the "Mūrnieki" Stable and meet the farm pets (goats, houres, dwarf pigs, etc.) or go for a short horseback ride. From August to October, you can visit the first Salaca lamprey weir, where the delicious Salaca lampreys are caught and prepared under the care of the owner. When you return to town and cross the third bridge, go for lunch and try a fish caught right here in our waters and cooked just for you.
