Old firefighter's depot

Visitors are invited to capture the fire truck and climb up narrow stairs over glass floors to the top of the fire station tower, where windows on the fifth floor offer views of the central part of the old town.

In the former Limbaži fire station, there is an open storage facility of the Limbaži Museum's collection. The building was constructed in the second half of the 19th century in the forms characteristic of the historicism period – the so-called brick style.

The Fire Station opened its doors to visitors in December 2009 with two exhibitions: one dedicated to the history of the Limbaži Volunteer Firefighters' Association and the other to the Limbaži Museum’s collection of technical devices, which is presented as an open repository. Today, the open repository exhibits 294 items from the museum's collection, including radios, televisions, tape recorders, phonographs; cameras and devices; sewing machines, knitting machines; cleaning devices for rooms; clocks; typewriters; and more.

Visiting the tower could be compared to the show "Fear Factor," as most of the floor area between the levels is covered by glass surfaces. The shaft effect, along with the "endless depth" view from above, is enhanced by the glass cover of the old water reservoir on the first floor. The original stairs with a significant incline are preserved on all tower levels. The relatively strenuous climb and the glass floors intensify the extreme sensations. From the windows on the fifth (half) floor, there are viewpoints of the central part of the old town. The tower, like the former garage interiors, has been restored, and the historical paintwork has been renewed on the first floor.
