Blacksmith’s workshop and blacksmithing museum
The blacksmith’s workshop and blacksmithing museum is located in a beautiful spot in Vidzeme, between Bīriņi and Igate castles. In an old stone building, built 200 years ago during the time of Peter I, blacksmith Kaspars Auza has established a private museum of blacksmithing, offering visitors and wedding couples with their guests a chance to enjoy this unique experience.
In the blacksmith’s workshop, the bride must iron the linen sheet for the first night with the help of her groom. This is done using a 150-year-old iron weighted with fieldstones.
Meanwhile, the groom, together with the blacksmith, must forge his own Lucky Horseshoe, with the bride assisting. The blacksmith does not touch the horseshoe – because each person is the smith of their own happiness.
After the work is done, the newlyweds celebrate with sparkling champagne along with everyone else, ready to set off on their new journey in life.
A certified master blacksmith of the Latvian Chamber of Crafts and a Folk Art Master. By request, creates items for pubs, saunas, salons, and countryside farms – including fireplace accessories, shutters, outdoor lanterns, and garden carts.

The farm "Eko dārzs" offers organic bee products. During the season, you can purchase healthy berries and fruits such as edible honeysuckle, apples, melons, table grapes, and sea buckthorn. Visitors can pick berries and fruits themselves by prior arrangement regarding time and price. Honey, beeswax candles, berries and fruits, as well as organic Angus beef are available by order.

In the 19th century Vidriži manor belonged to baron fon Budbergs family (in many geneartions it was connected with the Russian czar court). The castle of baron Budbergs was built in 1870. and the baron lived there during summers.
