Ungurpils Mill Lake
Ungurpils Mill Lake is an artificial lake formed by damming the Jogla River. It is unique for its three floating islands that formed after the lake was created. Typically, they spend the winter in the southern part of the lake, near a place called Porzu Grove.
When the ice melts and the wind picks up, the islands begin to move across the water. The best view of the floating islands can be enjoyed by taking a boat ride on the lake.
The lake is surrounded by Ungurpils Park, which covers 5.6 hectares. The park is well-maintained and includes a small sports field and an open-air stage — an ideal spot for peaceful relaxation. A nature trail around the lake provides information about the history of Ungurpils, the Mill Lake, and the trees and shrubs in the park.
