Limbaži Lielezers is a 4.3 km long, narrow lake, with a 2.3 km long one-way nature trail at its northeastern end. Part of the trail has been built with a wooden boardwalk, allowing visitors to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding lake area with dry feet. The wooden boardwalk sometimes leads through a reed maze and occasionally opens up to views of the lake. At the northern end of the lake, a bird-watching tower has been built, offering a fantastic view of the lake.
There is also a picnic area near the bird-watching tower. Along the way, the trail crosses a small stream - Donaviņa, over which a pedestrian bridge has been built. The nature trail runs along the well-equipped Lielezers beach, which has a children's playground, well-equipped rest areas, beach volleyball courts, and a boat dock. Waterfowl, such as ducks, loons, tufted ducks, and swans, are frequently observed in the lake. Boat, water bike, and SUP board rentals are available. In the winter season, there is rental for skis and ice skates. From the beach, along the gravel path by the Olympic sports center "Limbaži" rowing base, you can go to the wakeboarding center "Wake Revolution" and the N. Bomja bakery "Lielezers."
Limbaži and the Limbaži Lielezers Nature Trail are located within the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve - a specially protected nature area. The trail offers various recreational opportunities: walking along wooden boardwalks or gravel paths, a boat dock for lake excursions or fishing, a children’s play area for younger visitors, educational stands for the curious, and a sandy beach. The bird-watching tower allows bird enthusiasts to observe some of the 99 bird species in the area. The nature trail crosses a bridge over Donaviņa.
